Tiiu Meiner

Tiiu Meiner (she/her, b. 1995) is a curator, writer, and educator based in Rotterdam. Her practice is shaped by a slow, dialogic approach: she develops exhibitions, texts, and learning environments through close, sustained conversations with artists and designers. Rather than imposing curatorial frameworks from above, her work unfolds through friction, resonance, and mutual exchange — letting meaning emerge over time, in response to others.

Language is her primary material, both as a writer and curator. Whether in an exhibition or a grant proposal, her focus lies in articulating nuance — making complex ideas accessible without flattening them. She works across design, craft, and contemporary art, drawn to practices that explore how cultural traditions, material heritage, and social imaginaries shape how we live, relate, and make.

Alongside her curatorial work, she supports emerging designers as a mentor, editor, and funding strategist — helping them clarify their voice and build the conditions to sustain their practice. She teaches within art and design education, encouraging students to articulate their work to not just explain, but to think through, test out, and connect.

She has collaborated with institutions including Nieuwe Instituut, Design Academy Eindhoven, Rietveld Academie and Noorderlicht International Photo Festival. Her writing has appeared in publications such as Disegno Journal, Current Obsessions and Dezeen. Together with Anna Bierler, she co-hosts the OOOReading Club, a space where reading and writing become shared acts of reflection and reorientation.
